When should I start looking for my wedding dress?

The Knot, along with many blogs, wedding websites and so forth suggests that you start looking for your dress about a year in advance, and we couldn’t agree more. If you have the time to start looking a year ahead, do yourself this favor! The last thing you want is to feel extra stress in your wedding planning because you waited until the last minute to look for your wedding gown. When you order your wedding dress it can typically take up to 6-8 months to come in.This is because each dress is custom ordered just for you! You also want to allow plenty of time for alterations! Most seamstresses will like to have about three fittings with you in your dress and this part takes time. They need to be able to get your dress to fit you as best as possible, and this involves a lot of intricate work.

So, if you have the time, start shopping early so you don’t have to order your dress on a rush cut and pay extra for rushed alteration. Plus, knowing what your dress looks like will help you have a better idea of what to choose for your bridal party!

Who should I bring with me to my appointment?

When deciding who to bring with you to your appointment, you want to think about who will help you with this process and who may make it more difficult. Limit your entourage to two or three others who you trust and love. It helps keep your judgment clear and experience stress free!Too many opinions can cause many different choices, therefore dresses, and confuse the bride to what SHE REALLY WANTED. We limit your guests to five, especially on weekends, as there is only so much seating, and we want to serve everyone with the same comparable appointment. We do have private appointments in our VIP room, for an extra charge, as goodies, drinks and unique packages can be purchased. As well, the fee can be applied to your gown purchase. How do I find the right size?

Most bridal gowns need some alterations, as the gown is not custom ordered to your measurements. It is ordered based on manufacturers’ sizes to fit you best. We will help you find the best fit with the goal of the least amount of alterations needed.Gowns are ordered knowing that it is easier to take in the gown versus releasing the gown, as there is usually only 1 inch of extra seam allowance. We must fit the largest measurement of your body when comparing your 3 areas we measure ( bust, natural waist, hips), and choosing the best size from that manufacture. We always have two consultants take your measurements at the time of ordering your gown, to be extra vigilant of the best size to order. All manufactures are different in measurements and sizing.

Do not be alarmed if your bridal size is many sizes larger than your regular clothes sizing, it’s just the way bridal size charts have originated since the start of time.

We do not suggest you ever order the size of the in-stock gown size unless your measurements fall into that size, as in-stock gowns get tried on so many times by so many different body types, that the in-store sample has definitely stretched.

If you are planning on any weight changes in between first ordering the gown, to then wearing it 6-12 months later, we will always suggest you order the size you are measured into best at that time, and know there will be alterations needed to be done.

It’s safer to have a gown to take in, just in case of any unforeseen circumstances. We do have an in-store seamstress, however, you may use any seamstress of your choice.

What if I already have a dress in mind?

Great! Bring pictures with you to show your stylist what you are drawn toward, BUT please keep an open mind! Most brides fall in love with a dress that is the complete opposite of what they have in mind.Be sure to try on what you think you love along with some things your Remi Raine Bridal Team may choose that you really aren’t loving at first glance. Trust that she wants to help you find the perfect dress (because that’s what we are here for and we love it!) and try on a few things she might pick for you.

Keeping an open mind will help make the process of finding the perfect dress so much easier on you!
